Coming this Sunday, April 21st, Maryland Public Television (mpt) will launch the 20th season of Chesapeake Bay Week. During a full schedule throughout the week, mpt covers the many aspects of the Chesapeake Bay, the nation’s largest estuary. And, all of the media shown during the week is available once the program is launched by going to the mpt site. Plus, PBS stations across the nation will air the program in the weeks and months ahead.
In a new film produced by mpt and being shown as part of the week’s programing, viewers will enjoy the rare experience of log canoe racing from above as well as in the water. These historic and unique vessels and the passionate people who sail them make for a wonderful story.
Just a few days before the Chesapeake Bay Week kicks off, I had a chance to talk with mpt’s Sarah Sampson who produces the week-long series and was also the producer of Racing Rivals: Log Canoes of Chesapeake Bay.
Our discussion focused on what viewers can expect during the week and a few of the surprises along the way during the filming of the log canoe racing.
The discussion was part of the coverage of Chesapeake Bay Week appearing in The Spy publications covering the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
Chesapeake Bay Week can be viewed wherever you watch mpt:
