One of the most scenic drives of the visit to Corsica began as we traveled through the rocky landscape of Calanques de Piana, a World Heritage site. Even at speed, the views were breathtaking as we weaved around corners, each new view more stunning than the last. While hard to capture photographs, their website tells the story.
Our first destination was the restaurant Le Palmier in Porto where we enjoyed lunch overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

Our stop in Porto along the western coast of Corsica provided a welcome break to feast and refresh. It’s also a time to pick up a few pointers from our very able guides.
The group of eight cars driven by the guests is divided in two with a guide assigned to each group. The guide is in the lead car for each group and sets the pace. In our case, Ivo, was both guide and coach taking us around tight curves and showing us what the cars can really do. But, no matter how challenging we thought our experience, Ivo was quick to remind us that we were hitting about 60% of the performance capability of the Porsches….that was plenty for us all.
Ivo did offer great advice during our stops and all along the road on the radios we all carried.
He was also one great driver and a fine individual! A former race car driver, he is trained by Porsche, tested and recertified regularly to work as a guide in this program. In fact, while the trip is planned and executed by an independent company, every aspect of the experience is reviewed, approved and evaluated by Porsche.
Our route after lunch took us further north along the coast of Corsica to our overnight destination, Casa Paradisu. We did think we’d arrived in paradise! The view from our room and the view at the pool was spectacular!

This was the end of our longest driving day, about 6 hours. It had been another wonderful experience that one of our group captured well in this short video below:
There are easier ways to get around the island, but none more scenic than the routes curated by the Porsche Experience team!
The series will continue!
