A Remarkable Briefing Unlike Anything I've Seen

Two very different approaches
1

In posts yesterday, I referred to the remarkable morning press briefing by the Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Air Force General Dan Caine that. Their briefing was discussed throughout the day by the media and into the evening news with snippets being shown.

The full briefing was released, and I thought some readers may wish to watch it, or at least part of it.

Personally, Secretary Hegseth came to attack the media. Ironically, his strong stated concern focused on coverage of a preliminary finding of damage to Iran developed by his own Department which was then shared with members of Congress. When it leaked, it was reported as a “preliminary finding.” However, it was at odds with the President’s own personal bomb assessment: “total obliteration.”

While a little of Hegseth goes a long way, the briefing by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is rather extraordinary. He begins about 10 minutes into the video. He traces how the actions taken against Iran by the U.S. military were 15 years in the making. Honestly, I have never seen anything quite like it.

There will be and should be discussion about exactly what the U.S. strike accomplished and how it will impact the region over time. However, there is no debate that the brave men and women who developed and perfectly executed their missions deserve recognition and our appreciation.
