I’ve long supported public broadcasting, and I am more enthusiastic than ever about the work of Maryland Public Television (MPT). One learns quickly that MPT has a very broad reach. MPT’s programing extends throughout the state of Maryland and into neighboring states. And, the quality of MPT productions sends programing developed here about life around the Chesapeake Bay and other areas of the state all across the nation as other PBS stations broadcast the programs.
The quality of the programs was once again recognized when regional Emmy Awards were announced at an event this past weekend. MPT received 18 Emmy Awards, the most the statewide public TV network has earned during a single competition in its more than 55-year history.
Of note, an Eastern Shore favorite, the log canoe, helped MPT win three Emmy Awards for one film, “Racing Rivals.” You can watch it now by CLICKING HERE.
