We had a spirited conversation this morning with Dave Wheelan at the Spy. Al From and I were asked about just where things stand now that the Senate is back to advance the Big Beautiful Budget Bill. Frankly, I think we’re going to have a train wreck ahead because what can get passed out of the Senate by Republicans probably cannot get approved in the House.

And, the White House appears to be falling back on an approached dubbed “Rosy Scenario” back during my time in the White House when columnist George Will was openly skeptical about the growth figures we were using. This is an interesting little story in itself — you can find it HERE.

Now, President Trump is suggesting we will see annual GDP growth at 4.6% with the passage of the Bill. Interesting, since it hasn’t been at 4% or higher in the past 20 years except for the year we came out of COVID. Looks like “Rosy” is back!

We also reflected on the departure, outburst and political future of an increasingly less relevant Elon Musk.
