…and nobody includes him!

Craig, you made a simple and profound observation that I wish the Dems had used as a campaign mantra—Trump has sold himself as a stable genius dealmaker, but ALL his deal making is based has ALWAYS made his deals on what is best for HIM. Is he even capable of thinking of others? Since that’s the job of the President?

“Nobody knows what we’ll do.” The first truth he’s uttered, by mistake, of course. Nobody

When Trump says "nobody knows what we'll to," what he is really saying is that he has no idea what he should do. As Craig points out, most presidents, when faced with difficult decisions like this, would turn to their most trusted advisors. In most administrations, such people would have extensive experience dealing with that part of the world. Trump's advisors don't have the education and experience necessary to provide good advice.

Last winter, I participated in a Great Decisions program. Sponsored by the Foreign Policy Association, a non-partisan group with extensive experience in their fields, they produce a book of eight essays once a year that cover topics of national interest by these experts. Since 1954, groups nationwide meet eight times to discuss each essay and share their opinions. Each essay tackles an important decision and lays out the options someone with the responsibility for making that decision would have and the likely or possible consequences of each option.

These are the kinds of people Trump needs to consult. They know their fields and understand the consequences of any decision he might make. I hope someone points him in their direction. Somehow, I don't think Pete Hegseth would be a good source of advice.

Like everyone else, I worry about whom Donald Trump will turn to for advice. Tightening my belt (metaphorically) because I think he'll turn to Jared Kushner first. I don't see a way to tiptoe into this.....big bombs or nothing. Maybe he can get Bibi to call it off and say mission accomplished?
